Wire repairs


If there is signs of burning then give the manufacturer a ring ,they take these faults very seriously.You may get a free repair or more.

I am going to repair the burnt wires on the mains filter on a hotpoint washing machine , it is located at the rear right of the machine.The arrows show the burnt parts .The symptoms , in early stages , are a burning smell.

I ALWAYS UNPLUG FROM MAINS.Remove the plug by pressing tab at point A and and pulling plug in direction of point B.The plug can take alot of force to come out as the plastic has usually melted together.

Now the extent of the burning can be seen on the plug.


The mains filter is removed by removing the screws and then pushing the filter up so that it slots out.

The mains filter can now be inspected to see if a new one is required.This one must be renewed.


To repair the wires cut out the bad portion of the plug , if possible.

Cut off the bad plug and replace with new cable end ( a cable end is a wire and plug already fitted together see below).


Replace mains filter , plug and secure the wires and job done.

This is a cable end , a normal crimp is a fire hazzard and shouldn`t be used.


Heater wires.

Tie wrap them up well.


Dryer heater wires burn out aswell.
