I ALWAYS UNPLUG FROM MAINS.
Remove plynth by inserting a small screwdriver into holes to release lugs. Then the bottom is held on by 3 more lugs.

Once removed if it looks like this then the filter is easily accessed.

Filters 1 and 2 are interchangeable but number 3 you must remove the handle off the old one and clip it on the new filter.

Unscrew the filter .If there is water in the drum it could come out of the hole.It may be blocked up or it could be jammed really with coins, bra wires, etc.

Inspect the hole throughly notice the screw jamming the pump right at the back.Try to feel in the hole to the left to see if anything is in there.

If the pump is clear then lie the machine down on it`s back ( using suitable floor protection ) and the sump hose and pump can be seen from below .BEFORE REMOVING ANY HOSES MAKE SURE WATER WILL NOT GET ON ANY OTHER COMPONENTS,COVER THEM WITH PLASTIC BAGS IF NEEDED TO PREVENT MORE DAMAGE.

Remove the 2 clips and the hose can be removed and inspected , inspect the drum hole aswell.

look into the hose to make sure that there is nothing in it and give it a shake. The ball stops the powder going straight into the sump.

Remove the 4 screws from around the filter and the pump should come loose.Remove the wiring plug. image ten

Inspect the pump, look at the windings. If you have a multi meter ,the windings should read about 165 ohms ,as long as you get a circuit it should be ok.This one has burnt out.Check the grey outlet hose to make sure it is not blocked.Check under the sink ,if applicable ,where the water goes out.

This is popular whether it be an elastic band , hair clip or even a bra wire.

Pumps are very prone for getting noisy , and it might overheat , and stop working through the cycle and when it cools down it could work ok.I checked for any leaks on reassembly.
