I have been repairing domestic appliance for over 25 years and my knowledge has been recorded on this site .

Hotpoint Indesit dishwasher motor

When the dishwasher starts it pumps first , then it starts filling and the wash motor should start.The symptoms are noisy when on wash or not spraying the water around.

Unplug from mains.

Lie the dishwasher on it`s left hand side , as you look from the front.Then use a small screwdriver to release the lugs ,as shown.


The base then then be slowly removed to reveal the float switch and wires. image two


image three The float switch detects any water in the base.Unplug the wires from the float to remove the base fully.


All the various components can now be seen. image four


image five The wash motor is fixed to the heater. It is secured by means of a rubber bung arrowed and a twist fit onto the heater.


This is the wash motor.The wires are pluged into the rear of the motor ,indicated by the arrow. image six


image seven To remove the wash motor unplug the wash motor wires, then push the heater in the direction of the 1st arrow to release the motor from the rubber bung.Then twist the motor in the direction of the 2nd arrow while holding the heater still.If your looking from behind the motor it twists in an anti-clockwise direction.


Once the motor is loose it can be removed. image eight

image eleven The motor can be very tight to fit on and be careful of the arrowed hose as too much movement can make the clips dig into it.
