Hotpoint Indesit door interlock
If there is signs of burning then give the manufacturer a ring ,they take these faults very seriously.You may get a free repair or more.
image one UNPLUG FROM MAINS.
Remove spring loaded wire from around door seal,place screwdriver under spring and prise out ( if spring is at bottom it could rust and break).Release door seal from front panel.


Open door and unscrew two screw for door interlock. image two


image three Reach behind door panel and pull out door lock. You can then fit the new doorlock. Fit in reverse order,when refitting door seal put spring at side near hinges so it doesn`t rust.


These 2 types of door lock are both interchangeable but the they are wired different (the plug goes in the other way,the one to the left when the plug is inserted the wires come out of the plug towards the front of the machine . With the one above ,the wires come out of the plug to the rear of the machine , as seen in the picture . They work of a bi-metal strip so when the power is off the door should open after a couple of minutesMAKE SURE THE WATER LEVEL IS BELOW THE DOOR image four


image five This door lock has burnt out check the wiring and lock for damaged connections.


These two door interlocks are interchangeable( instant lock ) but they are powered open and powered shut.To fit these you may have to remove the front panel. image six


image seven If the power goes off then they are opened by a small lug behind the plynth as shown below.


The lug must be pulled down twice and the door will open.MAKE SURE THE WATER LEVEL IS BELOW THE DOOR.

If the door locks and doesn`t start then revert to motor problems.

If the instant door lock is fitted and not locking but sounds like it`s trying ,then don`t fit new door lock untill motor/heater and wiring have been checked!
