Hotpoint indesit door handle
This is how i did it.
Unplug from mains.
Remove the two screws from the top. |
Push the top from the front towards the rear of the machine and when it moves back , lift it up. |
This door interlock is unlocked by a small lug behind the plynth as shown below (only unlocked ,not opened). There is more then one version of this door lock so i look behind the plynth for the lug. |
The lug must be pulled down twice and the door will unlock.MAKE SURE THE WATER LEVEL IS BELOW THE DOOR.The door latch can then be pushed to the left (as seen from above ) and it will release the door. |
This is looking from above and i use a screwdriver or other suitable tool to push the latch. |
With this door lock you have to wait 2 minutes and then you push the latch to the right as you look at it from behind. |
Once the door is open look for cracks around the arrow ,this is where the handle fails. |
Then i can start to replace the handle (i`ve took the door off to aid photographing ).Remove the screws ( some have 6 some have less). |
Then the door front can be unclipped from the door rear and the door glass removed. |
Remove the pin (arrowed) and the door handle should all come apart. |
This is where we are up to. |
Fit the spring
(as shown). |
Fit the pin (as shown) just enough to hold the spring in place. |
Place the handle so the hole is inline with the pin and push the pin in just enough top hold the handle in place. |
If you now look from the other side it should look like this. |
Now force the latch in between the spring and handle (as shown). |
The push the pin in place , making sure the pin goes through the latch and the other side of the spring.Refit the door glass and the door front and job done. |
